Short answer: in a CPAP power outage, the Resvent iBreeze manuals we reviewed say the buzzer sounds and you should stop using the machine. They warn against wearing the mask with the device off, so take it off. If power returns within 60 minutes, those manuals say therapy resumes by itself. On batteries, 0 of 7 documents we checked say how the humidifier changes run time or whether a UPS may be used.

We sell the Resvent iBreeze range, including the iBreeze Plus and its battery pack, so we have a stake here. Everything below is quoted from Resvent's documents and our product pages, and the gaps are named, not filled.

One user asked whether anyone had "used a UPS to keep their CPAP working during a power outage", on a sleep apnoea forum in September 2026. Before you buy anything, know what your machine does on its own.

What happens in a CPAP power outage?

The iBreeze models in Resvent's manual sound an alarm and stop. Resvent's iBreeze CPAP System User Manual (document H-4000-000002-00, version 5.0, covering the iBreeze 20A, 20A Pro, 20C and 20C Pro) says that if the cord is pulled or the mains supply drops during use, the buzzer sounds, and you should stop using the machine and check the power. On what happens next, it says:

"When any power interruption (e.g., blackout) happens during therapy, the device will resume therapy mode if the power is restored within 60 minutes."

So if the power comes back quickly, the machine picks up again. That does not change the first instruction: the manual warns against wearing a mask when the device is off (next section). It does not say what happens if power returns after 60 minutes, so check the manual for your own machine or ask us.

Resvent's iBreeze BPAP user manual (Spanish edition, models 25S, 25A, 25ST and 25STA) says the same two things: an alarm when power is lost, and a return to therapy if power is restored within 60 minutes. We could only find that manual in Spanish, so the English here is our translation.

The CPAP manual also states that the iBreeze is not a life-support device. It is a sleep therapy machine, and when the power goes, it stops.

Should the mask stay on once the machine stops?

No. Take it off. This is the clearest instruction in both manuals. The English manual says:

"A mask should not be used unless the device is turned on, otherwise, there is danger of suffocation."

The reason: with the machine running, fresh air flushes your breath out through the mask's small exhalation vents. With the machine off, that flushing stops and the mask may no longer bring in enough fresh air. The BPAP manual carries the same warning ("existe peligro de asfixia", danger of suffocation).

If you use a full-face mask, which covers your nose and mouth, the CPAP manual adds that it needs a safety (entrainment) valve. Check your own mask's instructions for that part.

What to do for the rest of a night without therapy is a medical question. Ask your doctor before it happens.

What do the manuals say, and not say, about power?

We read seven documents for the four Resvent machines we sell: the two Resvent manuals above, Resvent's own page for the iBreeze+, and our four product pages. For each one we asked eight power questions. Here is what came back.

Question Documents that answer it What they say
Does it alarm when power is lost? 2 of 7 Yes: buzzer, stop using it, check the power (both manuals)
Does it restart after an outage? 2 of 7 Yes, if power returns within 60 minutes (both manuals)
Is a mask without airflow safe? 2 of 7 No: danger of suffocation (both manuals)
Can it run from DC or a car battery? 2 of 7 Only with a Resvent DC cord, and not with the engine running (both manuals)
Is there a battery that runs therapy? 2 of 7 Only for the iBreeze Plus (Resvent's page and ours)
How long does that battery last? 1 of 7 Up to 1.5 nights per charge (our Plus page); settings not stated
Does the humidifier shorten battery run time? 0 of 7 Not stated anywhere
Can I use a UPS, inverter or power station? 0 of 7 Not stated anywhere

On what the machine does in an outage, the manufacturer is specific. On the battery details people ask about most, the documents are silent, so a confident forum answer about humidifier run times or UPS sizes is not coming from these sources.

One more detail people mix up. Both manuals mention a "low battery" message, but the cause listed is a low button battery, a small cell inside the machine. The manual warns that your therapy records may not be saved. It is not a battery that runs therapy.

Can an iBreeze run on a CPAP battery backup?

If you want a CPAP battery backup, only one machine in our range has a battery named for it: the iBreeze Plus. Resvent's iBreeze+ page describes the battery as optional and promises long battery life, with no hours given.

Our Resvent iBreeze Plus travel CPAP page lists a camping battery pack at up to 1.5 nights per charge. It does not say what pressure or humidifier setting that figure assumes, so it does not tell you the run time at your own settings or with the humidifier on. The page also describes the pack as optional in one place and lists it in the package in another. Until that is settled, ask us whether the pack is in the box before you order. The Plus is S$1,700.

The Resvent iBreeze Auto CPAP (S$1,400) and the Pro (S$1,500) pages list a universal power brick with a Singapore/UK three-pin plug and no battery. They are wall-powered machines.

The CPAP manual does mention direct current (DC) power, with two rules:

  • On a vehicle battery, do not use the machine while the engine is running, as this can damage it.
  • Use only Resvent's own DC power cord and adapter cable; anything else may damage the machine.

The documents we reviewed do not establish that any particular power bank or third-party cable is compatible. Whether a Resvent DC cord is available for your model here is something to ask us, not assume.

Can I use a CPAP UPS or power station?

A UPS, an inverter or a portable power station is a different matter: none of the seven documents mentions them. The manual's specified power supply takes 100-240 V AC and outputs 24 V at 2.5 A. Those ratings alone do not establish that a UPS, inverter or power station is compatible; that needs confirmation from the manufacturer for your exact model and setup. We will not recommend a setup on a guess.

A checklist for the next outage or camping trip

  1. Know your model. Find its exact model name and read the power section of its manual.
  2. Plan the mask step. If the alarm goes off at night, the first move is the mask off. Keep a torch where you can reach it. If you use oxygen through your CPAP, the manual says to always turn the oxygen supply off before the device is turned off, so unused oxygen does not build up inside the machine and create a fire risk. If the machine stops in a power cut, turn the oxygen off too, and ask your doctor about an outage plan.
  3. Ask your doctor about a night without therapy. Do it at your next review, not at 3am.
  4. Before buying any battery, get three answers in writing: is it approved by Resvent for your exact model, what is its capacity in watt-hours, and how long does it last at your settings with the humidifier on and off.
  5. In a car, engine off. If you use a Resvent DC cord from a vehicle battery, the manual says not to run the machine with the engine on.
  6. Flying is a different question. Airline and lithium battery rules are covered in our CPAP travel checklist for flying.

An older machine that will not restart cleanly after a cut is worth checking; our guide on how long a CPAP machine lasts lists the warning signs. Discuss any plan for a night without therapy with your doctor. A battery is mainly worth asking about if you camp, sail or sleep somewhere without reliable power, and only once compatibility and run time at your prescribed settings are confirmed in writing. Method

On 15 October 2026 we fetched seven documents: Resvent's iBreeze CPAP manual (H-4000-000002-00, version 5.0, July 2020), Resvent's iBreeze BPAP manual (Spanish edition, models 25S, 25A, 25ST and 25STA), Resvent's iBreeze+ web page, and our product pages for the iBreeze Auto, Pro, Plus and Auto BiPAP. Each was read in full for eight power questions, relevant sentences copied word for word, and a question with no sentence recorded as "not stated": 56 rows.

Limits

The English manual is the 2020 edition, found online via an overseas distributor, so the copy in your box may be newer. The BPAP manual is in Spanish, and the English quoted here is our translation. We did not confirm which manual model numbers match each product name we sell. No English manual for the iBreeze Plus was found, so the Plus is covered by web pages only. "Not stated" means not in these documents, not that the answer is no. Documents change, so these results hold for 15 October 2026.
